茂盛世居始建于清嘉庆年间，距今约200年历史，是省级文物保护单位。围屋为矩形围城式建筑，横宽81米，纵78米，占地面积6318平方米。四周围墙高7米，墙厚70厘米，墙体用三合土加红糖、糯米粥、猪血夯实而成，非常坚硬；围墙遍布枪眼，四角有碉楼互相照应，极具防御功能，反映了客家人历代迁徙，异地立足的艰难和由此培养起来的防患意识。
提起茂盛世居，就一定要提及何氏兄弟。据《深圳文物志》记载，茂盛世居的创始人是来自广东兴宁的何维松、何维柏兄弟。“茂盛”名称来源于维松、维柏二公之父“俊茂公”之号，今族中所称“茂盛公”即指俊茂公。两兄弟艰苦创业，继而在横岗圩创办了“茂盛”商号，经过多年拼搏，终成横岗大富之一，广购良田并造大屋一座，创建茂盛何氏家园，“茂盛”村因此得名。
走进茂盛世居，您会一点一点地发现这座老房子的细节：房梁上“百子千孙”的木刻，四角碉楼上的枪眼，院落里的水车，房间里带扶手的楼梯……，这个传统的客家围屋还融合了西洋风格。
As a provincial-level culture relic protection site, Maosheng Aristocratic Residence has a history of 200 years or so since it was built in the resign of Emperor Jiaqing. Encircled house is a kind of rectangular building with width of 81 meters and length of 78 meter, covering an area of 6,318 square meters. Wall around Maosheng Aristocratic Residence is 7 meters high and 70 centimeters thick. The wall is made by concrete with brown sugar, glutinous rice congee, and pig blood, so is very hard. Full of loopholes in the wall around and with watchtowers located in four corners, Maosheng Aristocratic Residence has strong defense function, showing the hard migration of Hakka generation by generation and the consequent defense thought.
Mr. He Brothers is closely related with Maosheng Aristocratic Residence. It is recorded by Shenzhen Cultural Relic Record that founders of Maosheng Aristocratic Residence are Mr. He Weisong and He Weibai, brothers from Xingning, Guangdong. The name of “Maosheng” comes from the name of He Weisong and He Weibai’s father, “Junmao Father”. “Maosheng Father” known by Hakka today refers to Junmao Father. Mr. He Brother spore no effort to establish “Maosheng” firm in Henggangyu and then became one of the most plutocratic in Henggang. They bought many fertile farmlands and built a large house named Maosheng He’s House, and then the “Maosheng” Village was named.
Please appreciate details of this ancient house, woodcuts “thousands of descendants” on the beam, loopholes on watchtowers in four corners, waterwheel in the yard, and the stair with handrail in the house. Besides, this traditional Hakka encircled house has also some western style. |
